On why I've decided to give my eBooks away for free

Recently, I've made an update to the eComm shop (this store) that allows readers to download my eBooks for free. The reason I'm doing this is pretty simple: the economy is shit right now and the people who need to read my work don't tend to have disposable income.

Therein, the logical answer is to make all my eBooks free and let the chips fall wherever. I'm very happy that readers now get a chance to score my books at no cost. It means more readers get access to more great art, but it also helps my brain.

See, I was addicted to the indie authorship hustle. I burned my spoons out for three years working crazy hours just to get my work in front of people. Then, after a stay at an inpatient psych ward, my brain changed. No longer could I balls to the wall expend my finite energy the same way. I'd not only changed as a person, but my mind itself feels different. I know now that dedicating all my time and energy to marketing books isn't where it's at. It's writing important stories for people to read.

And so, let the stories be free. Let people read them at their leisure, whenever, and have something good to hold onto while the world outside crumbles. Though my novels aren't really escapist in nature, maybe a reader or several can find something within them to them that's relatable. Maybe their wounds can be healed by art meant to heal wounds.

Whatever the case, it's my hope that by making my eBooks free will unleash them to the world and let people sit with good stories. It's my aim to make the barrier of entry non-existent, after all.

Please go check out the eBooks, download what you want for free, read, review and share. It would mean the world to me, and I think you'll love the books. If you'd like to support me, check out my Ko-Fi. Or buy a paperback book.
